Write for us
We welcome pitches from writers who can turn a focused question about familiar life into a clear, engaging and well-supported story. Proposals are sent through the Contact page.
What we welcome
Pitch original explanatory features, concise histories, explorations of everyday objects, language, ideas or overlooked patterns. A strong subject has a clear question, a reader who will care about the answer and enough depth to support a useful story without requiring specialist advice.
What to include
Tell us the working idea, the central question, why it is worth exploring and how you would approach it. Mention relevant experience only where it helps explain your fit for the subject; do not imply credentials you do not hold. A short pitch is more useful than a complete draft sent without context.
Our editorial approach
We look for accurate, readable work with a distinct angle, sensible sourcing and language that welcomes general readers without talking down to them. We may ask for clarification or revisions, and we retain editorial control over accepted work. A pitch is not a guarantee of publication.
How to send a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to submit your pitch. Include a way to reply in the form. Please do not send confidential material or personal information that is not needed to assess the proposal.
